Material Handling and Warehouse Operations

Specifically designed to teach material handling workers how to avoid serious injury to themselves and others, this module illustrates the proper techniques for lifting, carrying, and reaching for objects. It also includes tips for light assembly, hand tool use and general warehouse safety.

 Proper-Lifting
Proper lifting uses the legs as much as possible, keeping one’s head upright and back straight. The load should be kept close to the body. Avoid twisting while lifting or carrying.

Use stepstools to eliminate reaching overhead, which can lead to shoulder injuries over time.
 High-reach-correct
Proper lifting and carrying are described and illustrated to reduce back, shoulder and knee injuries.
